This course is required by law to legally operate a VHF radio commercial or on non-pleasure passenger vessels and commercial vessels requiring GMDSS “Global Maritime Distress Safety System” fitted equipment and any Master limited certificate 60 Ton and up. VHF/DSC is a vital piece of safety equipment allowing you to receive and dispatch safety messages with boaters, the Coast Guard and receive weather report. Required for most master limited commercial courses.
Restricted Operators Course ROC-MC
The ROC-MC course is 20 hours and entails classroom along with a practical sessions simulating emergencies on the water using proper radio etiquette with VHF radio simulators. Learning to operate a radio is essential to safe boating and marine operations. The advanced training is an upgrade to the Marine Radio M course and is an essential training whethere you are a fisherman, crew member or anyone wishing to advance in the marine industry.
QuickNAV VHF instructors are certified by Industry Canada to administer the exam at the end of the course. Upon passing the course you will receive from Industry Canada, your lifetime Restricted Operators Certificate (Maritime Commercial) ROC – MC.
