This 40 hour 5 day course provides you with the knowledge to be able to sit the Transport Canada Master or Chief Mate< 60 GT written and oral examinations. It is for those new to or requiring a refresher for chart work along with the bouyage system, rules of the road and collision regulations.
Some of the topics covered will be;
Explain symbols and abbreviations used on a nautical chart,
Identify Canadian Aids to Navigation,
Plot positions on the chart,
Define variation and deviation, and calculate compass error,
Plot courses and calculate distances on the chart,
Calculate set, drift,
Determine course to steer allowing for current and leeway.
Use radar, GPS Plotter on our navigation simulator,
Preventing Collisions at Sea.
